Sh4.4bn Uwezo fund released

The government has released Sh4.42 billion Uwezo fund for disbursement to women, youth and people with disabilities.

Uwezo fund oversight board chief executive officer Wilfred Buyema said already the board has released money to the accounts of 232 constituencies across the country.
Speaking to the press after meeting various groups from Kirinyaga and Nyeri Counties, Buyema also said another bunch of 54 constituencies will receive their money on Monday next week.
He said the board plans to finish disbursing the fund to all constituencies by next month so that they can give opportunity to constituency committee to vet and disburse the money to the most qualified groups.
The CEO said the government plan to release the remaining Sh1.58 billion  by the end of next week
