Spanish teenagers will have to wait a little longer before living as spouses after the government raised the minimum legal marriage age from 14 to 16 years. The minimum age of consent for sex was also raised from the current 13 years.

Spain's Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality Ana Mato said in April that the change aimed at "improving the wellbeing and quality of life of youngsters".
She added that the government would also make it illegal for anyone to consume alcohol under the age of 18 across the country. (Xinhua)
